Abstract
Outdoor physical activities can be a very powerful tool to improve the inclusion of people with disabilities in the educational field, within the area of Physical Education. However, we are still far from achieving this inclusion in this type of activities. Fundamentally due to the lack of training of professionals, but also due to the lack of tools that allow inclusion in nature.
This is a research project with two main objectives. On the one hand, to make possible the inclusion of students with physical disabilities in the educational centres of the Valencian Community, and on the other hand, to raise awareness among students. All this, through inclusive hiking with the Joëlette mountain chair.
The project, developed over two year has two interrelated parts. The first year is devoted to design and validate a questionnaire through a group of experts. The aim of the questionnaire is to evaluate the impact of inclusive outdoor activities on students without disability after the route with students with disability. In the second year, the project has a fundamental social character, in which 6 inclusive routes with mountain chairs will be carried out in different educational centres in the region.
With this project, it is clear that inclusion in outdoor physical activities is possible, but it is necessary to raise awareness in society, train professionals in the field and provide schools with the tools to make it a reality.
