Abstract

Introduction Parental behavioral styles play a key role in shaping student health behaviors. This study explored the relationship between doting and inconsistent parental behavioral styles and student health outcomes, aiming to clarify how these behaviors affect student health.

Methodology Student health scores were assessed through a questionnaire. The dataset was screened to focus on doting and inconsistent parental behavioral styles. The relationship between these behavioral styles and student health scores was reassessed through correlation analysis and significance testing. The screening process highlights variables that have a significant impact on student health, thereby increasing the reliability and validity of the results.

Results Doting parental behaviors were positively correlated with student health scores (r = 0.38, p = 0.02), suggesting that they may have a positive impact on health. Inconsistent parental behavior was significantly negatively correlated with student health scores (r = -0.34, p = 0.03), suggesting that it may be a risk factor for health. These results suggest that parental behavioral styles have a significant impact on student health.

Conclusions The analyses in this study suggest that doting parental behaviors may be supportive of student health, while inconsistent parental behaviors may pose a health risk. These findings provide clear direction for designing family interventions and emphasize the importance of focusing on parental behavior in health promotion. The findings are highly congruent with ISAPA's themes of inclusivity and wellness and provide a valuable reference for future practice and research.
