Abstract

The Helpdesk Exercise & Sports, an initiative from Royal Dutch Visio, is dedicated to enabling individuals with VI to participate in physical activities and sports as independently as possible. Our work bridges the gap between accessibility and autonomy by providing tailored guidance resources, and innovative solutions to empower people to overcome barriers and engage in physical activities that enhance their well-being and autonomy.

This presentation will outline the core mission and activities of our helpdesk, focusing on the diverse groups we assist, including individuals with VI, parents, teachers, trainers, sports clubs and local authorities. We will also share insights into practical strategies and tools that foster inclusivity and independence, such as adaptive techniques and partnerships with local, national and international organizations.

Through real-life examples, we will highlight the impact of our work and showcase stories of success.

This presentation provides valuable insight not only for professionals in adapted physical activity, but to all who are interested in working towards a more inclusive and active future for people with a visual impairment.
