This training session was delivered at 1.P.M. on 3rd September 2025 via Zoom, to staff and students of Munster Technological University, Ireland.

Abstract

MTU currently holds Transformative Agreements with: ACM, Cambridge University Press, Elsevier, Oxford University Press, PLOS, Sage, Springer, Taylor and Francis, and Wiley.

These agreements enable MTU staff and students to publish Open Access with participating publishers without having to pay APC charges. Each deal is unique and comes with its own terms and conditions. The T&Cs can be particularly time sensitive from Sept-Nov as yearly agreements come to an end.

MTU's Digital Scholarship Services Librarian will provide key information to consider ahead of submission, including:

• Basic author eligibility requirements

• The status of each publisher deal

• How many APCs are available with each publisher

• Your options if your paper is accepted but APCs have run out

• Implications of submitting in 2025 but not being accepted until 2026
